Soho - Ku | How to help
Soho-Ku is a non-profit non governmental association which aims at improving the living conditions of the disabled people in Shanghai. It was founded and financed in July 2003 by a group of disabled individuals.
Constantly Strive
Currently, physically and mentally disabled people in Shanghai receive support from the government regarding their financial, material and educational needs. However, in order for them to live a more secure life, more help is needed.
The goal of Soho-Ku is to lend a helping hand to disabled people in taking their first steps down the road to self sufficiency and self fulfillment, helping them to be stronger and more self-confident.
Soho-Ku also tries to presents a faithful, comprehensive picture of the circumstances and courage of handicapped individuals today in China, while at the same time to shine a light on the kindness and generosity
Community Service
Today, Soho-Ku takes action on two distinctive fields: education and material support.
Education: Every week, several courses including Patchwork, English and French classes are taught for disabled students. These classes help students to increase their knowledge and thus give them new skills for their professional career.
Material: On another level, Soho-Ku collects various kind of amenities ranging from clothes to computer parts to furniture donated by companies or individuals. If needed, these are sorted and repaired, and then redistributed to institutions or people who need it.
Funding
Since its founding, Soho-Ku has received financial and material support from A Pleines Main , Hu & Hu Antiques, DCGS, Hands on Shanghai.
It also runs a media studio which offers services in Graphic Design, Web Development and Computer Maintenance in Chinese, English and French. Projects have been undertaken for local and international companies including: Hong Ta Shan tobacco, Bouygues construction and Sheuerle vehicles.

- make a financial or material donation to the association.
- give some of your time to teach weekly or help in the organization of
one of our projects
