Patchwork
The patchwork activity has been running for more than a year now. Michele, the
patchwork teacher, brought this confection technique back from europe where it is very popular these days.
There are 12 physically handicapped people in the workshop meeting every
thursday at Soho-Ku teaching room for three hours. It is one of the most popular
classes at the Soho-Ku association for the moment. It has bond a joyful group of
co-workers who teaches newcomers and carries on its activities out of the
classroom.
The goal of this workshop is to teach trainees a different technique of sewing
and linen production. These new skills can later be used to start a small
business and thereby help the disabled participants to become more independent
and self-sufficient.
Currently, the patchwork workshop also allow its participants to retrieve a
small amount of money from selling its own production at some events such as
charity sales and local showrooms.
Alos, from the 6 September we will start our monthly showroom at Michele's
place on every first Wednesday oh the month. Please see details below for the
address of the showroom.
The patchwork workgroup also takes specific orders for people who would like a
custom production such as a twin-bed linen or a set of cushions.
By the way, we would like to thank all the people who have been donating
specific kinds of cloth. And we are still welcoming many different kind of
cloths!
